Antoinette Zwirchmayr lebt und arbeitet in Wien. Sie absolvierte Studien an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien (Bildende Kunst), Universität Wien (Romanistik) und der Schule Friedl Kubelka (Künstlerische Photographie und Unabhängiger Film). Ihre filmischen Arbeiten wurden auf zahlreichen Festivals wie der Berlinale (DE), dem Toronto International Film Festival (CA), den Internationalen Kurzfilmtagen Oberhausen (DE), FID Marseille (FR), CPH: DOX (DK), Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (CZ), Viennale (AT), Media City Film Festival (CA), FICUNAM (MX), Festival de Sevilla (ES), Edinburgh International Film Festival (UK) präsentiert und mit einigen Preisen und Stipendien ausgezeichnet. Zu diesen zählen unter anderem eine 6-Monatige New York Residency (ISCP) 2022, der Outstanding Artist Award 2020, das Staatsstipendium für Medienkunst 2022, das Jahresstipendium für Fotografie (Kultur Land Salzburg) 2017, das START Stipendium des Bundeskanzleramts 2017, der Kodak Cinematic Vision Award des Ann Arbor Filmfestivals 2016, der Diagonale Preis für innovativen Film 2016, die Diagonale Auszeichnung für den besten Kurzdokumentarfilm 2014 und der Birgit Jürgenssen-Preis im Jahr 2013.
